Live From Jodrell Bank
Date: 6 events across the first two weeks of July 2012
Location: Jodrell Bank Centre, Manchester
Live From Jodrell Bank is a series of shows on an outdoor stage right in the shadow of the towering Lovell Telescope at the magnificent Jodrell Bank Observatory. For over 50 years the giant Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank has been a familiar feature of the Cheshire landscape and an internationally renowned landmark in the world of astronomy.
Debuting in 2011, Live From Jodrell Bank saw British Sea Power and Wave Machines take to the stage in support of The Flaming Lips. Due to the demand for the show, the 5,000 tickets available sold out within a week, and 2012 will see the one show developed and expanded into a series of unique gigs.
This diverse array of shows, or ‘transmissions’, will span all genres of music with some of the best international and nationally renowned artists. As well as providing an amazing backdrop the telescope will also serve a secondary purpose as the world’s most incredible projection screen!
Live From Jodrell Bank is brought to you by the creative minds behind Kendall Calling, the Warehouse Project and Ear To The Ground.
